Arteta praised Dowman's confidence and skills, saying: "What he's shown on the pitch is that he has a strong personality, courage, and the ability to take on opponents and dribble past them. These are qualities that can't be taught, you either have them or you don't."
On Mikel Merino, who scored two goals in the match, Arteta said: "It's great to have him on the team. His versatility, leadership, and ability to adapt to different situations are valuable assets. Today, with many attacking players missing, we had to find alternative solutions, and Merino came through with two goals."
Arteta also discussed Merino's ability to play in different positions and his willingness to learn and improve. He said: "I've always thought he has good timing and the ability to finish in the box, especially with one-touch passes. We worked with him to find the right position and timing to attack the box, and he was able to capitalize on the opportunities."
Arteta also praised Piero Hincapie's performance at the back, saying he was strong, efficient, and good in both centre-back and full-back positions.
