Matias Almeyda has a rich football background. He played for Sevilla in the past, joining from River Plate in 1996. He then went on to play for several Italian clubs, including Lazio, Parma, and Inter Milan.
After retiring, Almeyda began his managerial career at River Plate. He later managed AEK Athens in Greece, where he achieved a domestic double in his first year. He also had a stint as manager at San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS.
