Guardiola was impressed with City's resilience in the face of Palace's tenacious defense, particularly after a draining 2-1 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
"When you play on your own terms, good things are likely to happen," Guardiola said.
He acknowledged that City still have work to do, but was pleased with their progress and willingness to fight for wins.
Guardiola also praised Palace, acknowledging the threat they pose and the difficulty of playing against them.
Despite still being a work in progress after his summer overhaul of the squad, Guardiola took heart from City's performance and their ability to learn from their mistakes.
"There are moments when you struggle, but we fought unbelievably to achieve this win," Guardiola said.
City are now in a better position than last season, with Guardiola confident that they will continue to improve and compete for titles.
