Although Carlisle was relegated from the Football League, Dummett expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play for the team.
On social media, Dummett stated that he is retiring due to his age, having turned 34 this year, and feels physically able to continue playing.
However, he acknowledged the end of his playing career with a mix of sadness and pride, reflecting on his time with various clubs, including Newcastle, Gateshead, St Mirren, Wigan, and Carlisle.
Dummett expressed appreciation for his teammates, coaches, managers, and staff he worked with throughout his career, as well as the supporters who cheered him on.
As a fan, Dummett will return to the game he loves, while also cherishing the experience of living his childhood dream.
