As a result, Steve pursued bankruptcy proceedings against his brother in July 2019. However, he is now facing insolvency proceedings himself due to unpaid legal costs from one of the disputes with his brother.
The costs bill totals around a five-figure amount. Steve's attempt to appeal the orders was rejected by a judge, who described the bid as "hopeless".
Steve Finnan had a successful career with Fulham, Liverpool, and Portsmouth, winning several medals, including the Champions League and FA Cup. He also represented his country more than 50 times.
The bankruptcy case is ongoing, and no date has been set for it to return to court. Steve has argued that the case is too complex for a county court and should be elevated to a High Court judge.
