Speaking to a Swedish sports website, Petit expressed his opinion that the draw may have hurt Arsenal's chances of winning the title, and that many fans would have expected the team to take more points from the game, especially after midfielder Moises Caicedo was sent off.
"We'll never know what might have happened without the red card," Petit said, "but I think Arsenal missed an opportunity to put more pressure on Chelsea, one of their biggest opponents for the title."
Petit also noted that the draw is particularly disappointing given Chelsea's impressive form this season, including their recent win over Barcelona.
"Chelsea and City are second and third on the table, and they're both big opponents for Arsenal to win the Premier League," Petit said.
Arsenal will look to bounce back from the draw when they face Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
Brentford boss Keith Andrews has overseen five defeats from six Premier League away games this season, which could make the game an easy win for Arsenal.
